IFS
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Do you resonate with these:
You may be ready to dive deep and start processing emotional wounds, but part of you is preventing you and doesn’t want you to feel.
You may have difficulty with traditional grounding or resourcing techniques, such as breathing exercises, in moments of distress.
You are looking to deeply process and integrate your experiences through EMDR, but part of you is saying, “I don’t want to continue this, it’s too painful.”
You find it difficult to access or express emotions tied to past experiences and can only process them with your head, not your heart and body.
You are seeking a skilled therapist who combines both IFS and EMDR to help you heal and transform more smoothly.
If any of these resonate with you, you’re in the right place, and Internal Family Systems therapy may be what you need.
What is IFS Therapy:
Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, Internal Family Systems (IFS) provide both you and your therapist with a comprehensive and insightful map of the mind.
IFS is a transformative evidenced base therapeutic approach that recognizes the parts or sub-personalities within us, focuses on the idea that the mind is made up of different “parts” Each part plays a role, often shaped by experiences, memories, and emotions. Some parts may carry deep pain from past trauma, while others take on extreme roles to protect us from feeling those hurts. At the core of every individual, lies the Self (some called true self or higher self), it nurtures self-leadership by cultivating qualities like calmness, clarity, curiosity, compassion, confidence, courage, creativity, and connectedness
Internal Family System Therapy
- Provide insightful tools for shadow work.
- Help explore and integrate the parts of ourselves we’ve repressed or denied.
- Facilitate spiritual growth, as it encourages self-awareness.
- Connect the self to a deeper sense of inner wisdom.
- Connect and externalize parts, especially those that are young or non-verbal.
- Help process and give voice to parts that may be difficult to access through words alone, offering an additional means of healing and integration.

- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety, Depression,
- guilt and sham and anger issues
- self-esteem and self worth and Identity Issues

- Relationship Difficulties
What to expect: :
One of the defining qualities of IFS is its unique approach to the therapist-client relationship. Unlike traditional methods that cast the therapist as the sole expert, IFS emphasizes the belief that your inner system is inherently wise and holds the answers to its own healing.
In IFS therapy, you can expect to explore and understand the different parts of yourself, uncovering the reasons these parts exist and how they influence your behavior and emotions. As you engage with your inner system, you’ll develop greater compassion and curiosity, making it easier to manage challenging emotions and behaviors. Many participants report experiencing increased self-forgiveness, confidence, love, and acceptance as they heal and grow through the process.
Through IFS, I help you transform the parts of yourself that are holding onto pain or limiting beliefs. As an IFS therapist, I trust in this wisdom, creating a collaborative space where your internal guidance leads the therapeutic process and shapes the path to healing. This process fosters a greater sense of wholeness, self-compassion, and inner peace.

Combining EMDR & IFS for Holistic Healing
I am among a few therapists in Ontario that combine two well-know modalities in a session.
Integrating EMDR and IFS can significantly enhance the therapeutic process, creating a powerful, multifaceted approach to trauma healing.
Together, EMDR and IFS create a safe, supportive environment in which clients can move through trauma, heal protective parts, and develop new, healthier patterns of thought and behavior.
